How to Import MetaTrader 5 Trades into EdrisFinance
Step-by-step guide to exporting your full trade history from MetaTrader 5 using the CroniStoria tab and importing it into EdrisFinance for performance analysis.
MetaTrader 5 is the go-to platform for forex and CFD traders worldwide. EdrisFinance supports full MT5 trade history import directly from MetaTrader's built-in export — no manual entry, no spreadsheet hacks. Here's exactly how it works.
What You Need
- MetaTrader 5 (desktop client, any broker)
- Your CroniStoria (Trade History) tab visible
- An EdrisFinance account (free or PRO)
Step 1: Open the CroniStoria Tab in MetaTrader 5
In the MetaTrader 5 terminal, look at the bottom panel. You'll see a row of tabs — find CroniStoria (Italian: "Trade History"). If your platform is in English, this tab is called History.
This tab shows your full list of closed positions — every trade you've ever taken on that account.
Important: Do not use the "Trade Report" option from the top menu. That exports only aggregate statistics, not individual trades. You need the CroniStoria tab.
Step 2: Export as Open XML (XLSX)
In the CroniStoria tab:
- Right-click anywhere in the trade list
- Select Rapporto (or Report in English)
- Choose Open XML from the sub-menu
MetaTrader 5 will ask you where to save the file. Save it anywhere convenient — your Desktop works fine. The file will be named something like ReportHistory-XXXXXXXX.xlsx.
Note: You can also choose the HTML option from the same menu — EdrisFinance only supports the Open XML (.xlsx) format for MT5.
Step 3: Import into EdrisFinance
- Go to EdrisFinance → Ledger
- Click Import
- Select MetaTrader 5 as your broker
- Upload the
.xlsxfile you just exported
EdrisFinance will automatically parse each closed trade from the report and import the full history including:
- Open and close times
- Symbol and direction (long/short)
- Entry and exit prices
- Volume (lots)
- Commission and swap fees
- Net P&L
Your trades will appear in your Ledger within seconds.
What Gets Imported
The MT5 export contains one row per fully closed position. EdrisFinance reads exactly these fields:
| Field | What it maps to |
|---|---|
| Open time | Trade entry timestamp |
| Close time | Trade exit timestamp |
| Symbol | Instrument (e.g. EURUSD, XAUUSD) |
| Direction | Long or short |
| Volume | Size in lots |
| Entry price | Price at open |
| Exit price | Price at close |
| Commission | Broker fee |
| Swap | Overnight financing cost |
| P&L | Net profit / loss |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I import only a date range? MetaTrader 5 lets you filter the CroniStoria tab by date before exporting. Right-click → Set Period to narrow the history. EdrisFinance deduplicates trades on re-import, so you can safely import overlapping ranges multiple times.
Will partially open trades be imported? No. EdrisFinance only imports closed positions. Open trades are not included in the MT5 export.
What about swap fees and commissions? Yes — both commission and swap are imported as fees and factored into your net P&L analysis.
I use MT4, not MT5. Is the process the same? MetaTrader 4 uses a different export format (HTML report). EdrisFinance supports MT4 as a separate import option — choose MetaTrader 4 in the broker selector instead.
Does EdrisFinance support multiple MT5 accounts? Yes. You can create a separate trading account in EdrisFinance for each MT5 account and import each one independently.
